by Jennifer Roberts
I am excited that we have a variety of summer engagement opportunities coming up in our community and we have a new business in Gainesville (STEMality) to share with you.
“Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents” YOUNG ADULT EDITION by Isabel Wilkerson Community Conversation: Join the Manassas Museum, Manassas City Schools and Conversations in the Community for a FREE and engaging, intergenerational conversation and youth planning session about this groundbreaking book.
High school students (including rising 9th graders) are invited to participate in this unique leadership opportunity to better understand how we got to where we are as a country and how we can move forward. Participants will collaborate with peers on a community action plan that can address some needs in our community. Each student will receive a FREE copy of the book and a FREE lunch. Please see the attached flyer for more information and to register. Spaces are limited.
A Few Good MENtors, Inc. Summer Reading Challenge: Join our community’s premiere male mentoring organization, A Few Good MENtors, Inc. as we encourage our students to keep reading throughout the summer. The summer reading challenge starts on Monday, June 17th and is absolutely FREE.
Participating students in grades K-6 will receive The Fidget Game and students in grades 7-12 who complete the challenge and send in signed documentation (by a parent/guardian) will have the chance to win cash prizes. Registration is easy and can be done by clicking on the reading challenge flyer at www.afgmentoring.net.
