Local Nonprofit Raises Over $1000 at Annual 5K Charity Run

A local nonprofit organization, My Natural Me, raised over $1,000.00 at its 1st annual 5K charity run on Saturday, June 10th. The event, which was held in old Town Manassas, and kicked off from local coffeeshop, Jirani Coffeehouse, attracted many supporters from the community.

The money raised will go towards supporting the nonprofit’s Dementia Caregiving Support Program. The program provides comprehensive support to help caregivers cope with the challenges of caregiving.

Services include:

· Educational workshops on dementia care

· Support groups for caregivers

· Individual counseling for caregivers

· Respite care for the person with dementia

· Financial help for caregivers

The 5K run/walk was an enormous success, thanks to the hard work of the organization’s volunteers and the generosity of the community. Local businesses, which donated space, media and funding, also sponsored the event. The City of Manassas, Police Department, provided public safety throughout the entire event.

The organization’s President, Liletta Harlem, said that the event was a great way to raise awareness of dementia and to raise funds to help those in need. Liletta thanked the volunteers, sponsors, and participants for their support.

The 5K run is just one of the many ways that the organization raises money to support its mission. My Natural Me will hold a variety of other fundraising events throughout the year, including an end-of-year formal event.
