House of Delegates Candidate Makya Little partners with small business owners to host Cupcake Happy Hour

Today, candidate for Virginia’s 19th District Delegate, Makya Little, announced the revival of Woodbridge’s famous “Cupcake Happy Hour” for one day only. Little is partnering with Laura Brletic, owner of Confections Cupcakery, and Command Sergeant Major (U.S. Army Retired) Donnell E. Johns Sr., founder of Veterans Growing America, to promote and celebrate the power of small businesses. The event will be held at Veterans Growing America, located in Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center, on Sunday, April 30th, from 2- 3pm, alongside other veteran-owned small businesses.

Brletic, a 40-year resident of Woodbridge, previously operated her business as a storefront for more than six years in Prince William County and was voted best bakery in Prince William for seven years straight. The business currently operates exclusively online. However, Brletic has dreams to reopen as a storefront in the near future after the untimely passing of her husband due to cancer. Little, a 27- year resident and owner of Mareta Creationsー a communications and marketing firmー began serving Brletic as Designer and Product Photographer for Confections Cupcakery in 2012. The two developed a friendship over the years and consistently supported one another’s business development. During Brletic’s storefront years, the pair branded the last hour on Sundays that Confections Cupcakery was open as “Cupcake Happy Hour” due to the frenzy that would generate a line that wrapped around the shopping center. Since Confections was closed on Mondays, all cupcakes remaining in the last hour on Sundays were sold for one dollar each. This Sunday’s event will provide 4-packs for $15 but, since Confection’s cupcakes are currently available by pre-order only, the same line is expected in support of Makya Little for 19th District Delegate, as only 100 4-packs will be sold. https://mostbet-games.net/ge/

Veterans Growing America provides a forum for veteran and military spouses and dependents to showcase and grow their businesses. The organization partners with local, state, and federal veteran organizations to increase their brand awareness, along with conducting local events, and marketing programs to increase engagement with the veteran business community.

“We’re excited to host this event to help build bridges between members of our community and organizations to enhance access to economic growth and resilience of Veterans and the Military-connected community,” said Johns. “I’m thrilled to revive Cupcake Happy Hour to help my friend and community partner, Makya, in a way that allows me to help other small businesses while also supporting her campaign.”

“As a 40-year resident of Woodbridge who has worked with Makya for more than a decade, I know she’ll be an amazing representative for small business owners throughout the Commonwealth,” said Brletic.
