Cynáa-Nicole lets her star shine for all to see

In a PW Perspective exclusive, the musical sensation discusses her ambitions as her career takes flight

“Melanin is an incomparable beauty. From the lightest to the darkest skin tone, Black women and Black girls are exquisite beauty in every shade. Yes, Black females have that special something that just can’t be ignored. We are Melanin Queens, beautifully created! Respect the complexion.” Stephanie Lahart.

Cynáa-Nicole is a 14-year-old student-athlete, dancer and musician from Manassas Park, Virginia. This multi-talented, beautiful young lady is leaving her mark in the community and shining bright for all to see her “Black girl magic”! Her long list of accomplishments include performing at events at Jirani Coffeehouse, a family-owned coffee shop that supports local artists and gives back to the community to performing the National Anthem at her middle school football games and the NoVA BMX national event.

Most recently, Cynáa-Nicole, along with her brother, Buto, performed together at the Manassas Park City Hall Ribbon Cutting ceremony.

PW Perspective had the honor of sitting down with Cynáa-Nicole, to talk about all that she is doing and what’s next for this upcoming musical artist.

You are so multi-talented and musically gifted. Tell us about your love of music and what inspires you to create music, and what are some of your other interests?

I love listening to music and it makes me feel good. No matter what is going on in life, music always makes things better. I love creating music that is about things I go through, or what’s going on in the world, so that others can relate and feel better too.

I also love playing basketball, swimming, and hanging out with my family and friends.

You have many accomplishments, but what are some that you feel the proudest of?

I am proud of putting out my first song entitled, “My Life”. While I’ve always performed other songs, I was afraid to get into the studio and make my own. Doing that was an enormous accomplishment.

I also am very proud of how well I did in school this year, maintained the honor-roll, captain of my cheerleading squad and basketball team, and a starting player for softball.  I’m really proud of all that.

You mentioned your new song, “My Life”, what was your inspiration for that song?

The song is about sharing my story–getting older, going to high-school, meeting new people, and trying to figure out my future. One day, after school, my brother, Buto, a singer-songwriter, called me down to the studio. I assumed he wanted me to perform background vocals for one of his songs. To my surprise, we composed my first song. Once we started writing, found a good beat, everything just flowed and my song, “My Life”, was created.

What’s next for Cynáa-Nicole?

I’m happy to announce that I am dropping my next song, entitled, “Why Do They?”, which will be out in about two weeks! We’re also planning an end-of-summer event, happening at Jirani Coffeehouse in early September!

What message do you want to leave for others in the community pursuing their dream?

Have a great support team and don’t be afraid to tell others what you’re trying to pursue. Also, if you are good at basketball or have other talents, let people know you are great at it. You never know how others may be able to help you through their connections. Most importantly, don’t give up on your dreams!
